Leeds-headquartered leisure travel giant, Jet2, has struck a deal with Airbus to buy 35 new A320 neo aircraft with the ability for this order to extend to up to 71 aircraft.
Jet2 says this is designed to meet future anticipated growth of its Leisure Travel business and to refresh its existing aircraft fleet.
The ordered aircraft deliveries will stretch over three years until 2031 and at base price represent a total value of about $3.9bn/£3.4bn with a total transaction value for up to 71 aircraft of around $8bn/£7bn. Jet2 adds that it has negotiated significant discounts from the base price for these aircraft.

Government support provides a boost to the British aerospace industry in UKEF’s first deal with leading Brazilian aerospace manufacturer Embraer, the third largest commercial jet manufacturer in the world.
The deal will help Embraer access critical parts, components and technology from UK suppliers that will enhance its commercial and defence aircraft programmes.
This is a part of broader initiatives by both nations to strengthen trade ties and will promote future collaboration between UK suppliers and Brazilian manufacturers in aerospace.

Aircraft manufacturer, Airbus, has announced orders for more than 50 new planes, in a boost its wing-making plant at Broughton, near Chester, which employs around 5,000 staff.
International Airlines Group (IAG) has confirmed an order for 37 additional A320neo aircraft, following shareholder approval. Additionally, Air Canada has confirmed an order for 15 more A220-300 planes.
The latest IAG order follows earlier agreements for 22 A320neo family (17 A320neos, 5 A321neos) aeroplanes announced in March and June 2022, taking the total for the year to 59 single aisle aircraft.
Christian Scherer, chief commercial officer and head of Airbus International, said: “IAG operates Airbus aircraft extensively in its fleet, making it one of the largest Airbus customers globally. These latest generation aircraft will be key in IAG’s stated environmental mission to operate the world’s most fuel-efficient planes.”

Aircraft manufacturer, Airbus, has reported improved financial figures for the nine-month period to September 30, 2022.
The group, which employs more than 5,000 staff at its Broughton plant, near Chester, making wings for all its commercial aircraft, said total consolidated revenues were €38.119bn, compared with €35.155bn in the same period a year ago.
Reported EBIT (earnings before interest and tax) were €3.552bn, which compares with €3.437bn in the prior year. Free cash flow before mergers and acquisitions and customer financing was €2.9bn.
