Aircraft manufacturer Airbus delivered 863 commercial aircraft to 99 customers in 2019, outpacing its previous output record set in 2018 by 8%.
In the 17th yearly production increase in a row, Airbus, which employs more than 6,000 staff at its wing making plant in Broughton, near Chester, progressed on the transition to all NEO (New Engine Option) variants and by year end Airbus had delivered 173 wide-body aircraft, its highest number in a single year.
Leeds Bradford Airport has revealed plans to build a £150m terminal as part of its ambitions to massively grow the airport and support greater prosperity for the wider region. The new strategy is much more ambitious than the current plan to expand the existing terminal building, which was part of a £25m investment programme.
The detailed plans for the terminal, due to be submitted in spring 2020, replace the recently consented scheme and the existing terminal building, with a more efficient and sustainable development. The plans propose the construction of a three-floor, 34,000 sq m terminal on an alternative site within the airport’s boundary.
